Building - Dark Angels Librarian
Here is the first of many posts for the Dark Angels army I am building. You'll have to forgive the mediocre image quality of this project as I'm working with quite an old digital camera.
First up HQ with the Terminator Librarian. Not being a fan of the standard Terminator Librarian model I've converted my own up.
Parts used:
Terminator Captain
Storm Shield, Power Weapon, Storm Bolter Arm, Deathwing Terminator Shoulder Pad (all from the Dark Angels upgrade sprue)
Using the Terminator Captain model as a base I clipped off the protruding part of his bracer on his left arm and then with a bit of greenstuff managed to wangle the storm shield into position.
The right arm was done by carefully clipping and filing the storm bolter off its hand and doing the same with the power weapon (the power weapon was on a left handed arm so the weapon swap was necessary).
A pretty simple conversion but one that completely changes the dynamic of the base model. I was pleasantly surprised that this only took me a few hours to put together (a lot of that was glue drying time).
Next up will be a unit of Sternguard Veterans, with more crazy conversions and enough Dark Angels iconography to shake an Unforgiven stick at.

Looks good, I think the Sternguard will be tricky but stunning.
ReplyDeletelike it - shame that the storm shield isn't 3+
ReplyDeleteDark Angels Librarians can't take storm shields full stop. I have no compunction in using the standard Marine codex as it's quite obvious that GW used the Dark Angels codex as a guinea pig as they could ill afford to fuck it up. So they used the least divergent of the non standard chapters to get a feel for what worked and what didn't. With the exception of scoring terminators and landspeeders it's essentially Codex: Space Marines but with shitter wargear, less flexibility and more expensive points wise.
ReplyDeleteIn conclusion, yes that storm shield does give a 3+ invul.
I fucking love Dark Angels but their Codex is not even good enough to wipe my ass. It's a complete joke. Pay more, for the same or worse stuff. That book can eat my shit. I'd rather use the Codex Marine book and make a fluffy army. :D
ReplyDeleteSee if your digital camera has a macro function (usually indicated with a flower symbol). Should help with the close-up quality, providing you rest the camera on something. :)
ReplyDeleteYeah that picture is with the macro function, the camera is a really old 3.2 megapixel Canon. Hell my "free in a Happy Meal" £15 Nokia phone has a camera that's nearly as good. Steadying the camera will probably help as well as not taking the picture at dusk (I was rushed for time).
